Article Correctness Is Author's Responsibility: Climate variations may impact the base of the food web along the California coast

(California Polytechnic State University) A recent study conducted by researchers at Cal Poly revealed that in addition to seasonal changes in oceanographic conditions, natural climate cycles greatly influenced the base of the food web at the Cal Poly Pier in Central California. These natural climate oscillations influenced the seasonal timing and abundance of different phytoplankton groups, which impact marine ecosystem health differently, and may offer a glimpse of how these organisms will respond to future climate change-driven ocean warming.
